    Child Labour

EconomicWorld in its early childhood.. Child Labour activity covers all market production and certain types of non-market production, including production of goods for own use. It excludes household chores performed by children in their own household. Hence, economic activity is a much broader term than child labour. In India, only 10.2% of the total children work as well as study, compared to Chile’s 92.8% of working and studying children. Even a country like Ghana can manage a figure of 63.6%. India scores well on the economically active children front, as just 5.3% of male children and 5.1% of female children are child labourers.

    Democracy needs strong opposition

After the presidential polls, United we stand, divided we fall!Rajnath supporters are now questioning the Advani camp on reasons for starting a mud-slinging campaign against UPA’s presidential nominee Pratibha Patil.

“The party did not take a decision to launch such a slanderous campaign against the presidential candidate. It has indeed harmed the party’s reputation. But more than the BJP, it was a media creation,” BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told B&E. Party insiders claim that the Advani camp carried out the smear campaign without taking the party chief into confidence. Rajnath Singh hit back by appointing Advani-baiters like Murli Manohar Joshi & Yashwant Sinha as chief of party’s economic affairs committee & foreign affairs committee, respectively.

With every passing day the schism is growing wider among the two camps & any possibilities of a rapprochement, getting bleaker. This may well delight the ruling coalition, but a weak opposition, does not augur well for the health of a democracy.
